Doggin Love No. 4 | Louisville Lifestyle Photographer

All last week I spent my evenings planning for a baby shower I was hosting the upcoming Saturday.  I had an ongoing list of things to do and shop for, with cleaning the house as my number one priority.

I must confess I’m not the best housekeeper.  Our home definitely isn’t like an episode of Hoarders, but me and Mike are both busy all the time and we happen to spend our free time doing something other than mopping.

On Monday, Memorial Day, I started at it.  I dusted, cleaned windows, swept and ran the vacuum.  It was looking good.  But come Wednesday, it was a disaster again.  I love my doggins with all my heart, but their ability to shed like mountain sheep drives me insane!!!  The one rug we have in the house was caked in white dog fur just after two days.  Boo.

So I took matters into my own hands on Thursday.  I planned to sweep, vacuum the findings and mop, and I had to be proactive to have the results last a two more days.  Chase (the one that can hear) is the main culprit when it comes to floaty, fluffy dog hair in the house.  So I Furminated her in the backyard.

I couldn’t believe how much fur came off of her.  (That white and gray stuff next to her?  Fur.)  So I did what any normal human being would do and got the camera and had my sweet, innocent puppy pose next to her big wads of super soft bunny fur.  She looked to serious so I threw out the magic word (which is “grandpa” if you’re wondering) and got this reaction:

Haha!  Smiling doggin!

After the major brushing, the shedding did die down some.  But what’s worse is once Mike came home and as I was telling him the Furminator story, I showed him (on the dog) where most of the fur was coming from.  And with just a soft little tug, more came out.  It’s complete nonsense that this 25 pound mutt can shed like she does and we aren’t cashing in on it in some way.  (Note to self…)

And yes, the house was very clean come Saturday and the baby shower was a great time, but I’m hoping to write another post for it…. because I gave myself several pats on the back throughout the day. :)

I just can’t get over how much a little guy Levi has become!  He recently turned one and is the most dapper little fella that doesn’t really know how to turn his smile off.  I love it!

Stephanie and Jeremy really do have a sweet boy.  It’s been several months since I’ve visited with Levi (he was four months old the last time I saw him), but mom and dad have taught him well and kept him happy and well, he’s just the sweetest.  You could tell that Levi wanted to explore the park where we were, but was hesitant.  I think he stood in place for a solid few minutes, not moving his feet at all, before mom scooped him up and had his smile come out in full force.  He also found the pine cones interesting, but didn’t want to hang on it for too long.  And tall grass… well, that really wasn’t Levi’s style at all.  But I loved being able to spend time with Stephanie, Jeremy and Levi – they are absolutely wonderful to be around and always I leave with a smile.  :)

Maybe 30 seconds after this shot, Levi said it was time to check out – tall grass was not his thing.  But that sneaky smile makes one creep onto my own face. The Paulin Family | Louisville Family PhotographerThe Paulin Family | Louisville Family Photographer

As always, I had the best time with your family, Stephanie and Jeremy!  And keep doing what you’re doing – Levi has won my heart already.

Meeting Sadie | Louisville Newborn Photographer

Oh how I love that my beautiful friends are back home in Louisville!  Not only have I gotten more hugs in the last month than the past year, but I was able to meet their second daughter just two days after she was born.  She’s gorgeous, she’s precious, she’s perfect and she looks so much like big sister.  So while we were all at the hospital waiting for the doctors to send everyone home, I took some time getting to know her.

I loved being able to meet Baby Sadie.  Almost as much as I loved watching my friends affection grow by the minute.

Big Sister Allie not only holds her baby sister, but helps change diapers too.  She also thinks everyone has a diaper rash.  :)

She’s the sweetest little gal.  And this isn’t the last you seen of Sadie because he newborn session is coming up very soon.  I can’t wait to photograph her more, but I’m just happy to get in a few more minutes of rocking together. :)

katie - oh how sweet is she? And can we discuss how adorable Allie is? She’s such a big girl now! Congrats to this perfect little family!

Nine Years | Louisville Lifestyle Photographer

The older I get, the faster time flies.  I can’t imagine how it is with those that have children – it must go by even faster.  The ticks and tocks flash by in such a hurry.  And somehow Mike and I find ourselves celebrating nine years of marriage.  Already.

It doesn’t feel like we’ve been married for nine years – well, some days it feels longer. :)  But I can recall so much of the first day we met that it doesn’t feel like nine years.  (Which if we want to get technical, we met almost 13 years ago.)  I remember the scavenger hunt, sitting in Brent’s back seat as four of us teamed up to find everything on our list.  I remember learning he didn’t have a girlfriend, then turning and leaning my knees to his.  I remember asking him to walk me to my car that night when it was time for me go, as I had parked in green lot behind the houses and wanted to get him away from everyone else.  I remember years after that first meeting he told me that he knew I made our knees touch, which sort of embarrassed me.  But that’s how we started.

Even after all the years we’ve shared, all the moves, all the jobs, all the tiffs and all of the big smiles, I still lean my knees toward his.  Only these days he’s taken to pulling them in a bit closer.

I love you, Michael.  Here’s to many more years of touching knees.

Wendi @ Bon Appetit Hon - Happy Anniversary! Love the knee story and self portrait.

Christy - Oh my goodness – this made me cry!! So sweet. I love it. In our story I apparently touched James’ elbow and that’s when it all started. Funny how such a small gesture can lead us here, isn’t it? Happy Anniversary you two!!!!

katie - Cutest story ever. Happy anniversary friend. Here’s to many, many more stories of knees touching.

Susan - Awwww, cuties! Happy Anniversary!

Diane - So glad your knees are still together. Happy Anniversary! Couldn’t wish for a better son & daughter-in-law. Love you both. Love your hugs the best.

The Roaches {family} | Louisville Family Photographer

The Roach family is completely genuine.  From our first emails back and forth, to the morning of their session… genuine to the core.  I knew I’d love them.

Joy told me that her son, Wesley, who was almost one, was a very happy baby.  But that he was growing so fast he wouldn’t be a baby for long and the need for family photos grew more important for her and Scott.  Wesley was, in fact, a very happy little guy.  Bright eyes, big smiles, friendly as could be – I fell for him.  Hard.  (I’ve started a fan club.)  But seeing their family of three together was the best part.  They just fit together perfectly, like a puzzle of people who knew exactly where they’re supposed to be.

Joy had shared with my prior to their photo session that when they were expecting, only Scott knew the gender of their child-to-be.  And as a gift for his wife, he decided to decorate the nursery.  She said that it was an amazing surprise to come home to.  And my heart got a little tighter in my chest knowing that his gesture took more time and energy than most are willing to do, but what a wonderful way to fall in love with your spouse all over again, the day you bring your new baby home.  They’re all head over heels for each other – there’s no other way to explain it.

That face.  That little smile.  Those eyes.  Who wants to join the Wesley Fan Club?

One of my favorites.  Melts my heart.

Happiest. Baby. Ever.  EVER.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet your family, Joy and Scott.  I wish you well and cannot wait to hear about Wesley’s birthday party! xoxo
