Year-end reviews are always great for bloggers – to reflect back on what you enjoyed most about the year and what your followers enjoyed most that you shared. I not only love the photography that I share, but I really like to see how things shake out on the backend as well. It’s my analytical side – and I actually do it as my day job – but it’s interesting to see where traffic comes from, how things blow up one day, what’s revisited over and over again and so on. This may make me nerdy, but I really look forward to diving into the nitty-gritty traffic metrics!
This particular blog post is reflecting only on photo sessions though – the photo sessions of 2013 that had the most visits throughout the year on the blog. This list is no surprise to me as I’m always checking in, making notes and trying learn the marketing take-aways. But it’s a fun list and one I think you’ll enjoy revisiting some of these sessions as well. So let’s get started!
And to this think post almost didn’t happen! I completely respect my client’s wishes and even though this blog is my portfolio, if someone doesn’t want their images on the Internet, I don’t post them. Haley and Art were hesitant as their privacy is important to them, but when their wedding was over and Derby Day 2013 commenced, I was flipping through the images and hoping – no, PRAYING – that they’d give me the green light.
The green light was given. And their blog post ended up being the most viewed post of 2013. How ’bout them apples!
I was so happy to be there with them as they promised themselves to one another. And the ceremony was held on campus, a place where Haley and I first met years ago, where the buildings and landscape is beautiful. If it hadn’t been raining that first Saturday in May, we would have hit a trifecta. But eight months later, these two love birds are still head over heels for each other and making in memories in Orlando.
This session was recently on the blog last month, but through the power of social media, it came in as the second most viewed blog of 2013!
These babies make me soooo happy! And with a few requests and a very willing little boy, it kind of became the “Reece Show.” But I know mom and dad enjoyed watching their son play along. ;)
Armed with beautiful smiles, gorgeous fall colors and a whole lot of family love, the Salyers made for a fun, easy-going session with great images as the result. I honestly can’t get over Reagan though – she still has those big baby cheeks that I love!! And Reece is a heart-breaker already.
Not just a family session, but a maternity session also – this blog post came in at #3.
This was an exciting session for me. Probably for Melanie and Ryan as well, but especially for me. Because my Mel had just moved back to Louisville two weeks before. *squeal* And, more happiness, she was expecting her second little girl. *more squeal* And that Allie? Well, she is too cute when she’s got her charmer hat on. That smile is the best smile ever. Hands down.
These days, they are a busy bunch and I don’t get to see them as often as I like, but knowing they’re only 30 minutes away makes me feel good. At least they’re settled in now (their fall photos were taken at their new home in Crestwood), because Allie has a birthday coming up soon and Miss Sadie is growing like a weed!
The Bauer family was my first session post on the new blog with my business new name: Brooke Murphy Photography. And since March, it has gotten so many views that it came in at #4.
What was interesting about this session is 1) Andrew and I work together, so it was a different (albeit FUN!) experience photographing a co-worker’s family and 2) it was foggy as all get out that morning. I remember waking up and considering canceling the session because I really couldn’t get great visibility past eight feet. But we pushed through, made for a more *cozy* session and ended up with some wonderful photos. And Luke – that kid’s smile makes me do a happy dance.
The fog was more of a creative inspiration than I had originally thought. Which is winning in my book.
Baby Lucy rounds out the Top 5 photo session blogs of 2013 – and rightly so!
This little baby was one of the most anticipated babies of the year. Mom and dad didn’t know if their little one was a boy or a girl. And Jessica made it close to, if not over, 42 weeks – everyone was on pins and needles! Then she was here. Lucy Renee.
Jessica and I have been cheerleaders for each other when it comes to photography and have not only done projects and challenges together, but have taken classes and posed for practice as well. So being able to photograph her and her husband with their newest family member was perfect. I loved everything about this session. Including Lucy.
There you have it – the Top 5 most visited blogs featuring photo sessions from Brooke Murphy Photography. The year-end review isn’t over yet though – there will be more reflection on 2013 the rest of this week!!
